A gag is a generic term covering various materials and devices placed in and/or over the mouth of a bottom during BDSM or sex play. They are designed to restrict the use of the mouth, making clear speech difficult and muffling other sounds. A gag may be improvised using items on hand - such as fabric (scarves, stockings, ties, etc.), rope, or tape - or may be a purpose-built accessory of which there are several common types.
|
A bit gag, or a bar gag is ap bar placed between the teeth, typically made of rubber, leather, plastic, or silicone, and then secured around the back of the head with straps attached to the ends of the bar. |
A bondage bed is a bed specially designed for bondage. This typically means it has a strong frame and various attachment points for tying. It may even include integrated straps or cuffs. Some bondage beds are made by specialty retailers especially for this purpose. Other people may choose to buy beds with sturdy metal frames that will doe the trick. Bondage beds make regular bondage sessions easy and safer, as they provide an always-available, sturdy structure for tying.
Being restrained on a bondage bed emphasizes vulnerability and exposure. The bound partner may feel held, displayed, or at the mercy of someone else’s hands and intentions. Depending on the dynamic, it can heighten intimacy, amplify power exchange, or serve as a stage for impact play, sensation play, teasing, and erotic torment.
Consent and Safety
As with all forms of bondage, partners should:
- Confirm comfort and circulation in limbs.
- Establish communication cues if speech becomes difficult.
- Adjust the bound person to protect joints and breathing.
- Avoid leaving a restrained partner unattended.

A collar is a circular piece that is most commonly placed around the neck. This can be used to signify a dynamic or can also be used as a way to restrain or lead a person.
Collars are made out of a wide variety of materials ranging from metal rings and steel cable all the way to lace and fabric. Other common materials are (vegan) leather, rubber, neoprene and silicone, depending on its use. Designs range from very simple to very intricate and there is wide variety of shapes and sizes.
Collars are most commonly used to indicate of a person is in a dynamic with another person. This collar can be used only during a scene, or in some dynamics collars are also worn in day to day life. Note that these "day-collars" are less conspicuous and often can be observed as a piece of jewelry or a fashion statement. See Collaring
Collaring Ceremony
In an established dynamic the gifting of a collar to the submissive person can be a ceremony signifying that the dominant type person is accepting the submission from the other person long term. This kind of collar, and subsequent collaring can be a personal ceremony of importance, for some folks it is akin to marriage or hand-fasting. In some cases cuffs that match the collar are added to extend the set as a complete package, indicating the person is submissive to their d-type.
Locking
In some cases collars can be locked, often the key being held by the d-type person in the dynamic. This is a kind of constant reminder for the s-type that the d-type person is in charge of them. It is however also common that a spare key is somewhere near if removal of the collar is needed for either medical or other emergency purposes.
Alternative "Collars"
In some cases the neck may not be the best place for a dynamic indicator. In some cases people will use a bracelet around the wrist or even ankle as an indicator. This is also a way for some people to have a day-collar, but not be too visible to people outside of the lifestyle. This may be due to their work situation or even a personal preference for the neck to be free.
It can also be anything else the partners agree on as a symbolic marker, such as a diaper in the context of diaper fetishism, which can even be locked in place with a special locking panty to reinforce the sense of commitment and control.
As a Restraint
In some cases a collar is also just used as a restraint. Sometimes these are used without an established dynamic, indicating that the person wearing the collar is submissive or would like to be lead around. A collar can also allow them to be connected to another object in a relatively safe way.
These are sometimes referred to as play collars and are often all about functionality and less about symbolism and looks. However there are cases where the two overlap and a play collar can signify a dynamic - often a more casual one that is in place for a particular scene or isn't a 24/7 total power exchange.
A communion dress in kink language refers to a style of white formal dress worn by adult participants in BDSM or fetish play. The garment itself is visually similar to the traditional Catholic First Communion dress, but within kink settings it is worn exclusively by consenting adults and used as part of fantasy, costume, protocol, humiliation, sissification, gender exploration, or religious roleplay. Communion dresses are elaborate, and typically made of satin, lace, tulle, or organza. They are often paired with gloves, veils, or delicate hosiery.
In BDSM contexts, the appeal usually comes from:
- Feminization/sissification aesthetics.
- Ritual, purity, or ceremony themes.
- Power play involving authority roles (priest, nun, confessor, disciplinarian).
- Lace, satin, tights, gloves, mary-jane shoes, veils as textile or fetish objects.
- The contrast between innocent styling and sexual adult context.
E
An eternity bracelet, also known as an infinity bracelet, submissive cuff, or ownership bracelet, is a bracelet that is welded onto the wrist, or sealed with a lock. While this type of bracelet is sold in vanilla contexts as a symbol of eternal love, it is also used in kink as a form of slave marking, submissive collaring, and other similar symbolic bondage or ownership relationships. It functions a bit like a day collar, but it passes more easily as ordinary jewelry.
In practice, kink eternity bracelets often have a few distinguishing features. They may be made from stainless steel, have no obvious conventional clasp, and instead close with a small screw or specialized fastener. That makes them difficult to casually remove and allows a partner or keyholder to control removal if that is part of the agreed dynamic. Some are engraved with initials, terms of endearment, ownership language, or a private message.

A forniphilic gag is a BDSM gag designed to act as a mounting point or support structure for objects, tools, or decorative elements during a scene. It’s most often used in scenes where the submissive’s body is made part of a setup or display — something that looks or functions like furniture, art, or a prop. A forniphilic gag usually includes an attachment point (like a screw mount, clamp, rod, or platform) that allows the Dominant to secure:
Rather than silencing alone, this gag’s purpose is to integrate the sub’s head or mouth into a physical setup. It is also often designed to be objectifying. Origins of the TermThe term forniphilic gag appears to have emerged informally within fetish photography, bondage modeling, and BDSM gear design communities in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. It builds on the concept of forniphilia, an established fetish of using people as furniture or structural components in scenes. “Forniphilic” literally means pertaining to forniphilia, and in this context, a forniphilic gag refers to a gag that serves a structural or aesthetic purpose within a forniphilic setup. Why People Enjoy ItForniphilic gags appeal to people who enjoy the mix of aesthetics, control, precision, and service. It’s not just about being gagged — it’s about becoming part of the scene itself. Here are a few more specific reasons why people are into it. Forniphilic gags also tap into other kinks like bondage, objectification, and service submission. A fuckbox is a piece of BDSM furniture designed so that a person inside the box has parts of their body (most commonly their genitals, anus, or mouth) accessible through openings to people outside the box. Similar to a gloryhole setup, the people involved may have limited or no visual contact with each other, creating anonymity, objectification, or sensory-focused dynamics.
The person inside the box is usually placed in a physically restricted position and may also be restrained, limiting their movement and control over the interaction. In many scenes, the person inside takes on a submissive or bottom role, while the people outside direct or initiate the interaction. Fuckboxes are commonly used for sexual play, but may also be incorporated into humiliation, objectification, or other BDSM dynamics.
Fuckboxes are commonly made so that the person in the box is lying down, with their legs either inside or outside of the box. In some situations, the boxes are also used in a standing doggy-style position, so that the legs and hips are sticking out and the upper body is in the box. Some fuckboxes only enclose the head, leaving the rest of the body exposed, but often restrained. People often build fuckboxes themselves, but they can also be found in some sex clubs or dungeons.
Fuckboxes are sometimes referred to as "the barrel' or "fuck barrel", after an ancient sailor joke referencing using 'the barrel' as a place to sexually relieve oneself ("It's your turn in the barrel.")
There are some versions of this box that look more like a spanking-bench but have an extra attachment to keep the head separated and some fuck boxes have additional holes for the hands and feet to protrude.
Why People Enjoy It
People enjoy fuckboxes for many different reasons. Here are a few.
- Objectification
Some people enjoy being treated more like an object, body part, or “service” rather than as the focus of attention. The box can intensify feelings of depersonalization or use. - Anonymity
Limited visibility between participants can create excitement, mystery, or reduced self-consciousness. Some people enjoy the lack of eye contact and feeling of being anonymous. - Submission and Control
The person inside the box is often physically restricted and unable to fully control the interaction. This can create feelings of vulnerability, helplessness, or surrender, and reinforce submissive dynamics or power exchange. - Exhibitionism or Voyeurism
In group or public play settings, some people enjoy being watched, displayed, or used in front of others.

Gauntlets are long, forearm-covering gloves, typically made of leather, often with lacing, buckles, or straps.
In BDSM and kink, gauntlets may be used for:
- Fetish fashion/aesthetic (very classic Dominant or leather look).
- Impact play protection for the hands/wrists of the person giving the impact.
- Sensory play or restriction (some versions can be locked or tightly laced).
- Protocol/uniform pieces in leather, military, or formal D/s dynamics.
Gauntlets can range from simple work-style gauntlets to highly ornate, heavily hardware-laden pieces. Types of gauntlets include:
- Leather gauntlets: May be plain, buckled, laced, studded, or heavily reinforced.
- Impact-play gauntlets: Heavier gloves worn by the Top to protect the hands and wrists during striking.
- Bondage gauntlets: Designed to restrict the hands or wrists, sometimes with straps, locking hardware, or attachment points.
- Rope gauntlets: Decorative or functional rope structures tied around the hand, wrist, and forearm.
- Fashion/fetish gauntlets: Worn mainly for appearance, especially in leather, military, fantasy, or formal Dominant looks.
- Armored gauntlets: Metal or plate-style versions inspired by historical armor. More common in fantasy, cosplay, and fetish styling.
- Fingerless gauntlets: Leave the fingers exposed while covering the wrist and forearm.
Origins of the Term Gauntlets
Gauntlets have a much older history than their use in BDSM. The word comes from the Old French "gantelet," meaning a small or armored glove, and is recorded in English from the early 1400s. Medieval gauntlets were worn as hand and wrist protection, especially by soldiers and knights. By the 14th century, armored gauntlets made from overlapping metal plates had become part of European plate armor.
Over time, the term broadened to include other gloves with long or flared cuffs, including leather gloves used for work, riding, fencing, motorcycling, and fashion. Leather gauntlets in particular became associated with protection, toughness, uniforms, and authority, which likely helped them fit naturally into leather and BDSM aesthetics.

An attachment point for bondage integrated into the structure of a room, usually in the ceiling but sometimes a wall or even the floor. Often used for rope bondage, specifically suspension and partial suspension play.
In Japanese bondage the hashira refers to a solid pole that is mounted vertically and used as an attachment point for bondage, with the person bound to the pole. It can be used both for suspension as well as for semi-suspension. It is used to restrict a person's movement in rope and fixate the person to the pole so they cannot move.
Origins of Hashira
Traditionally, a hashira is part of the wooden structure of a building in Japan, however these are sometimes also installed as temporary structures and can also be made out of other materials.
Safety & Consent
Hashira is considered a higher risk variation of Japanese bondage as there is more restriction. It can lead to fainting due to oxygen restriction or pressure on the body constricting blood flow to limbs (this can cause blood rushes when untying).
Other Options
In some cases, people will hang a bamboo pole vertically from a single point and will use similar techniques as they would with a hashira. They sometimes refer to this as a "floating hashira". But the use of this term in this way is debated as the fixation still allows the bamboo to move and therefore the purpose and sensation are different.

An inflatable sleep sack is a piece of equipment similar in shape to a mummy style sleeping bag but made from stretchy latex. A person slides into the sleep sack then the bag is inflated around them using a hand or electric pump to fill it with air. As the sleep sack inflates, the material presses evenly against the person’s whole body. The provides a feeling of compression similar to being bound tightly. Movement is restricted, but normal breathing is still possible, as most sleep sacks have an opening for the whole head or just the face to be exposed. Unlike compression clothing that stretches to squeeze the user, this device uses trapped air pressure to hold its shape and fit around the body.

A gag may be improvised using items on hand - such as fabric (scarves, stockings, ties, etc.), rope, or tape - or may be a purpose-built accessory of which there are several common types.
Origins of the Term
The Jennings gag is named after Dr. John Ellis Jennings (1863–1935), a physician in St. Louis who invented the device. It was intended to hold the mouth open during medical procedures involving the mouth, throat, or palate.
The device was later adopted for bondage and medical-fetish play because it holds the mouth open and leaves the oral cavity accessible.
Why People Enjoy Them
People enjoy the Jennings gag for different reasons. Here are a few:
Safety and Consent
Use Jennings gags briefly, open them gradually and remove them at the first sign of sharp pain, numbness or significant discomfort. They place sustained pressure on the teeth and jaw and may be unsuitable for people with TMJ problems, sensitive teeth or small mouths.
Make sure the gag fits securely without forcing the mouth wider than is comfortable. Unstrapped models may slip or fall out. A strap can improve stability, but it should never be used to compensate for poor fit or excessive pressure.
Keep the wearer’s airway clear and position them so saliva can drain safely. Although the open design generally allows more airflow than a ball gag, swallowing may still be difficult.
Agree on a non-verbal stop signal and never leave the wearer unattended. Monitor their breathing, facial color, distress, and jaw fatigue throughout the scene.
Clean the gag thoroughly between uses. Medical-grade stainless steel models may be sterilizable, but always follow the manufacturer’s care instructions.
L
The looplok (sometimes spelled looplock or looploc) is a lock worn fastened to a beltloop to discreetly signify that the wearer is locked in a chastity device. A looplok may be worn to signify a person's commitment to chastity or as a vanilla friendly way to be recognized by other people in the lifestyle.
This is a similar signal to the way a keyholder may wear key jewelry.
M
Manties is a playful slang term that combines "man" and "panties" to describe underwear that looks like classic, sexy panties made for women, but styled to fit people with a penis.
Manties are often:
- Made from softer, more delicate fabrics like lace, satin, or mesh.
- Cut in styles similar to bikini briefs, thongs, or boyshorts.
- Designed to be more form-fitting, sensual, or decorative than traditional men's underwear.
Manties can be worn for comfort, aesthetics, kink, or just for fun! For some, they're part of gender expression or fetish play. For others, they're just a fun or luxurious alternative to standard boxers or briefs.
A mask can have different shapes and different purposes such as; anonymity, sensory deprivation, enclosure and breath play. There is also a close connection between masks and hoods with both terms sometimes being used interchangeably. Hoods tend to be a specific kind of mask that includes a full head covering as well as some coverage around the face.
Anonymity
Masks can cover and hide the face making a person appear more anonymous or obscuring their identity. Often masks that cover the whole face are used but sometimes masks that only cover the face around the eyes are used. Some full face masks with hoods have holes for eyes, nose and mouth that can be used for different purposes.
For example one purpose for a full face hood mask that has an open hole for the mouth would be to transform the wearer into an object. The function of their mouth remains available while the rest of the head is deemed irrelevant for the type of interaction people are having with their mouth.
Sensory deprivation
Some masks will help to blind or deafen a wearer. These masks are often more sturdy and can be part of a large hood. This can make a mask part of sensory play Sometimes these masks also have mouth pieces that are specifically made to be plugged so that the wearer feels like all senses are being able to be closed off and exposed at the will of the person applying the mask.
In Japanese Bondage a common way to make a mask is by using a "Tenugui" (Japanese hand towel). This is both used for eyes, mouth and nose making it part sensory deprivation, part breath play.
Enclosure
Masks can close the wearer off from the environment around them and provide a sense of feeling enclosed. This is often achieved with modified gas masks and can be part of dronification. This enclosed feeling can also be achieved with a fully covering lycra hood or a latex mask that sits tightly around the skin. The sensation of enclosure can really be pleasant to the wearer.
Breath Play
There are specific masks used for breath play. Altitude training masks are commonly modified to make it harder for a person to breathe while wearing the mask. Note that, like with any breath play, these masks come with a risk that should be properly discussed, mitigated and consented to.
In kink and fetish contexts, a merkin is usually a small patch of hair, fur, or fabric that covers the genitals in a way that resembles pubic hair. It may be worn for aesthetic effect, roleplay, or costuming. Some people use merkins to conceal nudity in performances, while others enjoy them as a provocative and fun accessory. They can be made from hair, fur, or synthetic materials, and range from realistic styles to highly stylized designs (sequins, colors, shapes).
Some trans women or transfeminine people use merkins to create the look of a natural pubic area, especially after hair removal or bottom surgery. It can help enhance body congruence or reduce dysphoria, giving a more feminine or complete appearance that aligns with their gender expression. Some trans and nonbinary artists also use merkins to play with gender imagery, mixing masculine and feminine aesthetics. Merkins can also cover scars, tucking lines, or sensitive areas.
Origins of the Term
Originally dating back to the 15th century, merkins were first used by sex workers and later by stage actors for modesty. Today, they aren't common, but are sometimes worn for fun, as well as in film and TV, and burlesque and drag.
In 2025, the merkin made a bit of a reappearance in public when Kim Kardashian's clothing brand, Skims, released a skimpy, flesh-colored thong with faux hair on the front.

A one-bar prison, also known as a one-pole prison, is a bondage device used in BDSM play in which the recipient stands over a vertical bar fitted with a dildo or butt plug at the end. The bar is typically anchored to a metal plate on the floor. The setup is designed to limit their ability to step away from the inserted toy. It may also include handcuffs and bondage for this reason.
One-bar prison is considered a form of predicament bondage. The person remains upright because they can't lift themselves off the toy. While many kinksters say the toy itself "doesn't do much," the intensity comes from being unable to step away, being watched, being left, or the loss of choice about posture and movement.
In some setups, the recipient may be required to wear high heels, or the bar height may be adjusted to prevent them from standing on their toes and lifting their weight off the toy. The bar, which runs from the floor to the crotch, is usually fully adjustable to allow for easier positioning and to accommodate people of different heights.
An alternative design replaces the floor plate with an ankle spreader bar, using restricted leg movement to create a similar effect.
The intent is to force the recipient to remain upright and unable to move away from the device, effectively creating a “one-bar prison.” Because balance is restricted, safety considerations are important. Slipping or falling could result in internal (as well as other) injuries.
Origins
The one-bar prison is a modern BDSM device and term. There is no evidence of it being a historical punishment or torture implement. (Although it looks like one!) Instead, it appears to have emerged from contemporary kink communities in the late 2000s to 2010s as a descriptive name for a specific form of predicament bondage.
The concept draws on several established BDSM practices, including forced standing, endurance play, fixed-position penetration, and display bondage. What distinguishes the one-bar prison is its minimalist design. It's simple, but it does the job!
Why People Enjoy It
People enjoy one bar prison scenes for lots of reasons. Here are some of the more common ones you may hear.
Manufacture
Many BDSM shops sell one-bar prisons, but lots of innovative kinksters make their own versions too. All you need is a very sturdy base and strong rod. We have actually seen some people using a sturdy tripod with a hollow-base dildo attached!
But a one-bar prison isn’t just “a dildo on a pole.” It’s a predicament restraint where small errors can turn into real injury. If you do make your own, find instructions or a kit online to ensure you build something stable enough that it won't tip under a person's weight.
Consent and Safety
One-bar prison is considered a more advanced form of predicament bondage, and is best approached with care. Here are a few tips for playing safe(r).

A pacifier gag is a type of BDSM gag designed to resemble a baby pacifier or soother but that functions as a mouth-filling restraint. It typically combines a large pacifier-style mouthpiece (often silicone or rubber) with a strap that buckles or snaps behind the head to keep it secured. A pacifier gag may also be referred to as a paci gag or adult paci. While it evokes childhood imagery, a pacifier gag is designed to restrict speech and amplify vulnerability. But it's a milder option compared to a ball gag and tends to cause less fatigue. This is because the shield resting against the lips provides a natural limit on depth, and the shape encourages a suckling response rather than a forced open-mouth position. This type of gag is common in age play and humiliation play ("babied" or infantilized roles). In age play and ABDL contexts specifically, it can be a tool for entering or deepening littlespace. Rather than serving primarily as a restraint, it signals a shift in headspace or role. In humiliation dynamics, it is used to infantilize the wearer, emphasizing submission and dependence. Pacifier gags can be purchased online, especially from sex toy retailers that specialize in adult baby gear. Silicone is the most common material for the mouthpiece, as it is body-safe, easy to clean and durable. Some people also make their own pacifier gags, but using a baby pacifier is not recommended. They are too small for adult mouths and are not designed to withstand the pressure of adult use. |

Why People Enjoy ItPeople enjoy penis gags for many different reasons. Here are a few:
For the partner of the gag wearer, they may like the silencing and visual aesthetics, as well as the oral objectification. Consent and SafetyBecause they block the airway, penis gags carry some risk, especially larger ones, which can can cause gagging. Here are a few things to keep in mind.

A pillory is a device or furniture that's designed to restrain the head and wrists. It often consists of two wooden boards with three large holes in the middle. The device can be opened to trap the wrists and neck and hold them in place. It is often used for whipping or other forms of impact play.
A pillory is often mistakenly referred to as stocks, which only restrain the ankles (and sometimes wrists) while sitting down.
Variations
A pillory most commonly restrains the head and the wrists, but others are also made for BDSM that also include ankles or legs. This can also be part of a larger piece of furniture that would also restrain other parts of the body. The head is not always included. Traditionally, a pillory is attached to the ground with a post or posts, but there are also variations in BDSM that have the person carry the pillory as a restraint.

Is used in some forms of Bondage where the clothing forces the body of the wearer into a certain shape or position. Often used to accentuate a certain look on a person and found at fetish parties where the look of an outfit can be enhanced by the wearer being shaped by the clothes. Commonly made out of leather, rubber, latex, neoprene or other materials that accommodate tight to the skin wearing.
Examples of posture clothing are:
- Arm binder: A shoulder and arm corset that keeps the wearer's arms in a lowered strappado position.
- Arm binder dress: A full upper body dress that has an arm binder built into it.
- Ballet shoes: Different from the non-fetish version that, this variation has a high heel forcing the wearer to walk Pointe.
- Hobble dress: A full length dress that has a tight lower half, especially around the knees so the wearer will have to walk in very small steps.
- Mermaid dress: A full length dress that forces the wearer to keep their legs together.
- Posture collars: A corset like neck brace that forces the wearer to look straight forwards with a stretched neck.
- Posture corsets: A corset for the torso to force a person to stand up straight.

A set of wooden planks in the shape of the Saltire cross (X-shaped) that is secured in place with a stand or is mounted to a wall. It often comes with rings at the ends for attachment of Cuffs or other restraints.
It is used to position a person either facing the cross or looking away from the cross. The person may be restrained by having their wrists and possibly ankles attached to the ends of the cross or their limbs may be left free so they can make adjustments to their position as the scene proceeds. When both wrists and ankles are restrained, the person receiving the activity is forced to stand 'spread eagled' (with their arms and legs open), which allows the person topping to access to a lot of the body but may also cause the bottom to not be able to sustain as long a scene as they could if they were not so restrained.
Many forms of play can be done using this piece of dungeon furniture. These can include: sensory play, impact play, electro play and wax play.
Origin
The origin of the shape and name of the cross is linked to the crucifixion of Saint Andrew. In the tradition, it is said that St Andrew requested to be crucified on an X-shape cross as he found himself to be unworthy be crucified on the same shape cross as Jesus. However it is unknown if this actually happened as the earliest accounts seem to depict the use a Latin shaped cross (source). The name and shape have however been adopted in to BDSM.

A sex swing, sometimes referred to as a sling, is a suspension device that allows a person to hang/lay in it while having their genitals or head accessible for sexual activities. (Personally, one of my favourite pieces of kit.) Some sex swings are made out of simple straps for the body and limbs while others resemble more of a body-only hammock. While they differ in design, most hang freely from hardpoint(s) and are designed to make intercourse with another person (who is not suspended) possible.
Common Types of Sex Swings
- Hanging Straps: These commonly hang from a single point. This has a rest for the ass, back, legs, and often the head for the person to lay in comfortably. Lots of positions are possible here, including face down.
- Hanging Flaps: A single piece of fabric (often leather or pleather) hanging from three points (two near the ass, one near the head). Mostly used laying on your back or sitting more upright in it.
What a Sex Swing Feels Like
The person in the sex swing can feel very objectified as their contribution to play while in the contraption is limited and they can be strapped to it. This can put them in the headspace of being an object to fucked.

A soroban (算盤) is a wooden board with triangular wedges or steps cut into it. It is traditionally associated with Japanese bondage. The soroban is used during the practice of Ishidaki (石抱き), where a person is forced to sit kneeling--called seiza (正座) in Japanese--on the board, then stones or other weights are placed on top of the thighs to increase the pain and pressure on the shins. Sometimes this device is simply called a kneeling board.
Origins of the Term
The word soroban means abacus in Japan. The ridges on the board are said to resemble the rows of beads on a traditional abacus.
Safety
The soroban is a torture device, meant to do harm. When used in the wrong way it can cause permanent nerve damage to the lower legs, especially around the ankles. Prolonged and/or repeated exposure to it can increase this risk.

A piece of furniture in the shape of a bench that is used for a Bottom to lay face down and keep their limbs out of the way. Most commonly used for spanking or other impact play this position also offer great access to the genitals and anus and is sometimes also referred to as a 'fuck-bench' because of that.
The exact shape of the bench differs frequently, but generally there is a cushioned plank where the bottom can rest their torso. To either side of this are additional cushioned planks for the arms and legs to rest on. The position will most often resemble sitting on hands and knees. There is sometimes also a special cushion for the head and there are usually rings to allow cuffs to be attached to the bench. Restraints can also be added without rings using other methods like chains, rope or straps. Generally they are made to be sturdy as both impact and rough sexual play can be an option.

A spider gag is a metal open-mouth gag built around a central ring that keeps the mouth open. It uses four to six outward legs or prongs that rest against lips to prevent the ring from being pushed out and is typically secured with a strap or head-harness. Unlike ball gags, it does not muffle. Instead, it holds the mouth open for access. Spider gags are commonly made out of stainless steel with leather or polyurethane straps. Some versions have swappable rings in different diameters. Because the ring (and “legs”) keep the lips/teeth from closing, a spider gag is for:
Consent and SafetySpider gags are relatively safe to use, but there are a few safety tips to keep in mind.

A suspension frame is a free standing structure that is primarily used for suspension bondage. Often this can be rope bondage, however other forms can also be used and in some frames sex swings can be added as well. Suspension frames are generally made of wood or metal as those materials are sturdy enough to carry the weight of a person.
Types of Suspension Frames
There are several types of frames that can be found:
- Cube frame: This is literally a cube with equal sides and larger than the person. Often in the middle there are one or more hard-points to attach a person to. This is the most stable type of frame generally, but also the heaviest.
- Tripod: The most portable version that uses straps at the base to keep the three legs from going apart and create a single hard point in the middle. This very light version is less stable generally.
- A-frame: A common solution made out of wood and looking a lot like a swing for in the garden or a strutted pagoda. The person is suspended from the horizontal beam at the top. These are lighter and also provide a very sturdy base and are a compromise between the two previous options.
While it's possible to purchase a suspension frame, most of them are self-made. Some have features that allow for easy disassembly, while others are more permanent. In any case, it is advised to always check the hard points on these frames, just like any hard-point for suspension.

A Vacuum Bed (often shortened to "vac bed" in conversation) is a piece of equipment where a person will lay entirely enclosed in an envelope made from two sheets of plastic or latex sealed around the edges. An air pump is then used to suck out the air from between the plastic sheets. The person in the bed will usually have a way to breathe by having a pipe to breath through or will have their head sticking out of the sheets.
The construction of the bed often contains a rectangular frame with 2 sides that can open with a type of hinge. The plastic sheets can vary in colour and transparency and be made from a variety of materials such as rubber, latex or other materials that do not let air pass through it. In many cases the bed will never be 100% air-leak free and it is common that the air pump will remain running to pump out the air faster than it can get in again. This also doubles as a safety feature.
When inside of the bed the person can be played with and is sometimes subjected to sensory play as the pressure of the vacuum alters their sense of touch. A vacuum bed can also be combined with Rope play or Rope bondage to alter those sensations as well. Other forms of play that can play with the person in their restrained way is also very much possible.
A variation on the vacuum bed is the vacuum cube, which allows more flexibility in how the person in the device is positioned.

Similar to a vacuum bed the vacuum cube is a contraption where a person will be entirely enclosed between two sheets of plastic. An air pump is then used to suck out the air from between the plastic sheets. The vacuum cube introduces a more 3D shape than a bed with the plastic sheets are held further away from the body. The person can either stand, squat, or sit on hands and knees inside of the cube while their head is sticking out.
The construction of the cube shaped frame is typically a little more heavy duty and the plastic sheet shaped around the outside of the cube may also be stronger. This is due the possibility that the person inside of the cube can be held into a suspended state when the air has been sucked out, placing more pressure on the cube than on a bed. However this is not always the case and just a precaution.
When inside of the cube the person can be played with and is sometimes subjected to sensory play as the pressure of the vacuum alters their sense of touch. Other forms of play that can play with the person while restrained way is also very much possible.
