The term devotee is recognized as a sexual and/or emotional attraction, typically into worship or service-oriented submission.
The original (older) definition was a sexual and/or emotional attraction toward people with disabilities, often focusing on specific physical characteristics such as amputations or the use of mobility aids.
While many devotees behave respectfully towards the individuals they are attracted to and seek genuine connection rather than indulging in a mere fetish, some have brought disrepute to the community, such as through stalking or sharing photos and videos without consent. Although these individuals do not represent the community as a whole, exercising discretion is advised.
While some people see this interest as a kink, others view devoteeism merely a preference. And, while some disabled people are offended or creeped out by devotees, others don't mind at all, or even see it as an advantage.
