"Genderfuck" describes the deliberate, visible disruption of gender norms through dress, behavior, and presentation. The term dates to 1972 in print. Christopher Lonc used it in Gay Sunshine magazine in 1974. It is distinct from genderqueer (a broader identity umbrella) and from drag (a performance tradition), though all three share overlapping histories and communities. Represented by purple for a mixture of male and female, yellow for outside the binary, and the skull for the identity’s rebellious nature.
