Honeypot can be a role or sexual slang that refers to someone who uses sexual attraction, flirtation, or intimacy to entice, influence, or manipulate another person.
The term can be used in a few different contexts:
- Seduction for Gain: Attracting someone to get attention, favors, money, or access.
- Power Dynamics: Using desirability or sex appeal as a form of control.
- Roleplay or Kink: Consensual scenarios where one person “lures” or tempts the other. This role may pair with a "bear," which in this case refers to a straight, hairy, rugged dominant man.
Honeypot is also sometimes used as a slang term meaning "vagina."
Origins of the Term
The modern, more metaphorical, use of this term developed in the 20th century, especially in espionage. Intelligence agencies used “honeypot” to describe operations where someone (often a woman) would use romantic or sexual attraction to entice a target into revealing information.
