An impact partner is a person you engage with in impact play, which is any kink activity that involves striking the body for sensation, such as spanking, flogging, paddling, caning, or slapping.
The term is intentionally neutral, emphasizing mutual participation and consent rather than fixed D/s roles like Top or bottom. It can refer to either or both partners in the dynamic, depending on context.
In impact play:
- The giver (often called a Top, Dominant, or impact Top) delivers the strikes.
- The receiver (often a bottom or submissive) experiences the impact.
- Both may negotiate intensity, implements, rhythm, aftercare, and emotional tone (erotic, disciplinary, cathartic, etc.).
- The relationship may be one-time, casual, or ongoing.
