age play

A form of role play in which consenting adults take on ages other than their own, usually with one partner in an older role and the other in a younger one. It ranges from light, playful scenes to non-sexual regression such as adult baby play. Some treat it as a part they put on, while others experience it as a headspace or part of their identity. It can be sexual or non-sexual, and it is a kink distinct from age regression.

Age play is roleplay between consenting adults only. It never involves real children, and it never involves images, videos or writing that depict children sexually: in many countries that material is illegal even when it is drawn, written or fictional, and even when everyone making it is an adult playing a role.

Most dynamics involve a Caregiver (CG), who may or may not use a Daddy or Mommy title, and a partner in the younger role, often called a little, middle, baby or babyboy/babygirl, though other pet names are used too. Less often, someone plays an older age instead. Scenes may include props such as toys and pacifiers, full outfits or a themed room, along with activities like story time, coloring or cartoons. Many dynamics also have rules and routines, such as bedtimes and chores, with discipline like spanking, grounding or bondage when a rule is broken.

Some enjoy it as an escape and a chance to feel looked after, others for the humiliation of giving up some agency or wearing diapers. The power gap between the older and younger roles appeals to many, though some “Baby Doms” play the younger role while staying dominant. For some it is a way to reconnect with parts of themselves from earlier in life, and the trust and communication it takes can deepen intimacy between partners.

Adults only. Sexual contact with anyone under the age of consent is abuse and a crime everywhere. If you're worried about your own thoughts or feelings towards children, confidential help is listed on our Support & Crisis Lines page.
