A form of roleplay where one person takes on the role of livestock, usually a cow, while another person tends to and directs them. The person in the livestock role is typically submissive, and the person acting as Farmer or Owner is typically dominant. It is generally treated as a form of pet play.
Scenes can include grooming, discipline, being shown off, breeding, vet-check style medical play, and milking or lactation. Milk is not a requirement, though: play that centres on producing milk and being used for it is more specifically known as hucow play, while cattle play covers livestock dynamics more broadly.
Some enjoy it because it lets them hand over control completely and simply follow, without decisions to make. Others value the clear routines and simple rules, the feeling of being handled and managed, or the distance a non-human role puts between them and everyday stress and self-image, letting them focus on the body rather than on thinking. It is closely related to pet play, hucow play and cowification.
