communion dress

In kink, a communion dress is a white formal dress modelled on the gown traditionally worn for a Catholic First Communion, worn by an adult as part of fetish dress-up, protocol or roleplay. It is usually elaborate, made from satin, lace, tulle or organza, and is often matched with a veil, gloves, fine tights or hosiery and mary-jane shoes.

It is worn only by consenting adults, and its use in play never involves real children.

The dress turns up in several kinds of scene. Some wear it for feminisation, sissification or gender exploration, others for its sense of ritual, ceremony and purity. It often appears in religious roleplay and power exchange built around authority figures such as a priest, nun, confessor or disciplinarian, and in humiliation play. For some people the attraction lies mostly in the materials themselves, with the lace, satin, gloves and veil treated as fetish objects in their own right.
