LGBT / Gay Pride — Original 1978 Design
‹ Flag library
Designed by Gilbert Baker, the flag debuted in 1978 at the San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Freedom Day. The pink stripe represents sex, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sun, green for nature, turquoise for art, indigo for harmony, and violet for spirit. In 1979, when the flag went into mass production, the hot pink and turquoise stripes were dropped since they weren't commercially available.
